Painting to me is a connection, a friendship. There’s an intimacy. You go into it circumspect, cautious,
gauging your options, waiting for acceptance or a rebuff. I push into the relationship tentatively gaining
confidence. You see intimacy is an inherent social need. I’ve learned that the paintings that are very
personal to me, that touch my heart or hit the place of vulnerability, would then be accessible to its
viewers.
